New Coronaviruses and Homestay Reception

This is an English translation of the 『新型コロナウイルスとホームステイ受入の現状』.This is an unprecedented situation, but I would like to do what I can as a host family. There is a lot of information about being a host family that is different from what is on the news.So here you go.

I’m Hospa, a Tokyo host family who is hosting a homestay student in Tokyo, Japan.

Since we are hosting homestay applicants in Japan throughout the year, I would like to describe the current situation on the father’s side of the host family.

The receiving agency was contacted.

There are a number of channels through which we can accept homestay students, including international exchange organizations, universities with homestay programs, municipalities with homestay programs, companies that accept students from overseas, human resources, and Japanese language schools.

One of the agencies contacted me about the current status of the coronavirus epidemic.

Due to the spread of the new coronavirus, some of the students who are scheduled to study abroad in Japan at these institutions have been postponed or cancelled.

Measures to be taken in the event that a student requesting a homestay becomes infected with the new coronavirus

Also, in the event that the host family becomes infected with the new coronavirus, measures will be taken.

Basically, if a homestay student or any member of the host family is found to be infected with the new coronavirus, quarantine measures will be taken.

It is not good for us to infect them and, of course, it is not good for them to go around and get the new coronavirus and bring it into our house and affect our children. It would also be a quarantine measure and we would miss them leaving our home in such a way.

For this reason, we reminded the children who are staying with us again.Avoid going out on an emergency basis.Be sure to wash your hands thoroughly. In the unlikely event of a coronavirus infection, it is a quarantine measure (eviction from our home). So be careful, okay?I could see the stiffening of his face as I told him.

And he said, “Don’t worry, I’ll be careful not to get the coronavirus. So Hospa also has to be careful that he doesn’t take the corona and give us a shot!and returned with 😂

Students at Japanese language schools will be closed for the time being.

I think there are people who are working and depending on the company, some of them are working remotely for an indefinite period of time. And, of course, there are people who are working hard at their jobs even in the midst of this kind of self-restraint.

In particular, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the many people in the logistics industry, the press, the infrastructure industry, and especially the medical professionals who are supporting Japan even under such circumstances.

(There are many other businesses, but I’ll leave it out because there are so many.) Thank you so much for your hard work.Thank you for supporting Japan in its current state.(I want to do the best I can.)

We are not a company, but we have a homestay student who is currently attending a Japanese language school, and since her school is closed, she is now studying at home.

Homestay students come to Japan to study culture and Japanese language, so they have to pay school fees even if they don’t go to school.

If you are a student who is reluctant to go to school, you may be thinking, “Yes!School’s closed today! It is possible that this will be the case. However, I feel resentful that children who choose to come to Japan and go to school and actively try to learn are not able to study. However, there are times when I understand the current situation and think I can’t help it.I’m currently working hard on my own study at home instead of going anywhere to play.

Shorter hours at work (part-time)

However, even though the school is closed, I have a part-time job in Japan. So I don’t go out when I’m free to go to school, but my part-time job doesn’t give me a day off, so I continue to go to work at my part-time job several days a week. However, the current situation seems to be one of abbreviated sales.

He is still young, but he worked about twice as much as other people before coming to Japan and saved a certain amount of money in his home country.

In order to earn money to live in Japan, she is working part-time to earn money.Since I am in the business of dealing with people, I sincerely hope that I don’t get sick and I hope that I don’t get sick.

Students will be accepted in April.
(But I haven’t heard from them!)I don’t know what’s going to happen 🤔)

Incidentally, our family is planning to accept a homestay student from South America from April next month. However, I have not heard from the child.Well, I don’t know what’s going to happen.

As of today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is not suspending the visa to the student’s country, according to the Immigration Officer of the Residence Management Agency.→It is possible to come to Japan.

However, due to the regulations of the Residence Management Agency, it is not possible to enter for 14 days from countries subject to immigration restrictions.

If there was a possibility that the student would be in transit through a restricted area, he or she would be inadmissible.

As a result, we were not able to start our study abroad program and our schedule was cancelled.

Now, I feel that the coronavirus has an effect on the Tokyo Host Family, which is my family’s life work.I’m worried about his safety too, I hope he’s okay and healthy.

It’s just that I don’t like it when it gets dark.

We are very flexible in accepting homestay students, so even if the student decides not to study in Japan, or if he or she comes early, on time, or late, we are prepared to take care of his or her room, pick-up and drop-off, food, etc.

When you have a Japanese standard and are in contact with people from all over the world, it can be awkward. So I’m going to go soft with an open heart, I guess you could say kesera sera, I don’t know what you’re talking about if you don’t have a part of it 😆

We don’t refuse what comes, we don’t pursue what goes, and we can’t help what doesn’t come, but rather than being lax, our family is not greatly affected by it, whether it comes or not.

Our family will go on as usual based on our family life, and Hosma and Hospa will work with us to make sure that our life is complete.

And if an international student comes to integrate into the life of our home, he or she will stay with us as a temporary member of our family.Living.

That’s how we live our Tokyo Host Family life.

(P.S.: The child from South America came to Japan in April, but was cancelled. It’s a shame, though it was a new encounter at the time 😞, but it can’t be helped.(Maybe another time!)

Since we have homestay students throughout the year, we are a family that says, “We can run out of soy sauce, but homestay students can’t run out of soy sauce.(I have a homestay student coming until the end of the year, but it might be cancelled.)

May Corona come to an end as soon as possible, may there be fewer tears shed, and may peace return to the world.

March 31, 2020.
